One Drop

I was listening to a song the other day, one I have heard a hundred times. It’s always surprising to me when something I have heard over and over sparks wonder in me. The words to this song said “just one drop of your blood” . This reminded me of the account in the Bible where Jesus is walking and stops when someone touches the rim of his garment.

He asks who touched Him. His disciples were confused because they were in a crowd, but Jesus knew someone had touched him because they were in need of something and they had faith that if they could just touch his clothing that they would be healed.

The account goes on to say that Jesus actually responded to Peter saying that He knew someone had touched Him because He felt power go out from Him.

As I kept listening to this song and remembering this passage, I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed. My thought is this- If just touching the hem of His garment in faith can heal a woman who has been bleeding for 12 years, what level of power just one drop of His blood hold?

This is where I am, unable to fathom the answer. Jesus gave His life on the cross and all who believe in Him, confess with their mouth that He is Lord and Savior are saved.

When Jesus broke the bread and told everyone that it is His body and held up a cup and said this is my blood. He says to do this in remembrance of Him. This is a strong attachment between Jesus and His children. Jesus says in scripture that life is in the blood.

When Jesus died it became dark, the Earth rumbled, and the heavy veil in the temple was torn. His blood gave all who believed in Him access directly to God through Him.

His blood is unimaginably powerful. The God Man is still incredibly powerful.

Here I am, staring wide eyed ahead and being overwhelmed by the depth of His power and love.

I love being challenged and this thought has definitely challenged me. It has also humbled me. Who am I to think I would be able to understand the things of heaven. Who am I to think I can wrap my mind around something this great? I can tell you this, I am blessed beyond measure to be able to sit in wonder of my Lord and Savior. I hope you will take time to be challenged as well as you sit forever at His feet, at the foot of grace.
