Dodging Arrows

So many days it can feel like bad news after bad news. There are days andaaa weeks where it feels like the only things we hear are negative. Days and weeks like that are hard. It’s difficult to keep a positive frame of mind. It seems as though the more we try to follow the Lord and do His will the more we are dodging arrows and we are already sick. Battling a disease has a whole set of arrows to dodge on its own. Throw life in the mix and it can easily feel like a full fledged war.

What keeps us strong is remembering that God is always in control and that He is our warrior always right with us from a place of victory. It’s easy to look at our lives as a battle of good vs evil, but I don’t believe this to be true. God is the creator of all things. Therefore He is unmatched. He allows things to happen in our lives not because He is losing a battle but because these things will benefit is in the long run. We will ultimately learn so much about ourselves that we never knew. I have remind myself of this when I feel as though I have more than I can bare on my shoulders.

With all the crazy stressful things life can throw at you it’s important to remember God’s attributes daily. They remind us that we are going to be okay. We have the creator guiding us and loving us. No one and nothing can overpower Him and no one and nothing can outsmart Him. How awesome is it to be loved by Him. He is our safe place.

When things seem to be spiraling out of control or you just feel like you can’t Handel hearing one more diagnosis remember He’s right with you. Pratice giving all your worries and cares to Him. He is much better equipped to deal with the drama in our lives than we are. Give it to Him and live your life. Don’t let worry or stress steal one day or even an hour from you. Those days and hours are precious.

Some diagnoses are scary to hear. I have to remind myself that I should not worry about days and years down the road. What matters is the day I am in. That is exactly where my focus should be. There will be people who God places in my path today. Those people deserve my focus and whatever I can do to show them love. My focus should not be on myself. God’s word tells us not to worry about our health or even tomorrow because tomorrow has its own set of troubles. We are to be focused on the here and now. We are to make disciples of all nations. We are to love our brothers and sisters in Christ and to love our neighbors. Each day is full of God’s todo list for us. We don’t have time to be depressed. We don’t have time to pull ourselves from the world. We need to be in this world reflecting Christ everyday that we are blessed with having. Our bodies may fail but we are still useful on this Earth until the day we join our Father in heaven.

I have to be reminded often that I still have a purpose. The doctors may tell us things that make the future seem scary. Let that push is not to be afraid but to be intentional with the people who cross our paths for Christ. We have a story to tell. Each story is different but each is a story of redemption with the same outcome. A story of being saved by grace and a life changed. A story full of hope and an everlasting future. It’s the ultimate love story of your life. Be sure to share it. God will help you dodge the arrows of your life no matter how sharp they seem to be.
