Not of this World

I was speaking with one of my daughters yesterday and we started talking about how God really wants us to live our lives. As we spoke we could easily identify so many things that steal our joy each day. It’s hard to not let things steal the joy we naturally have in Christ. We spoke about how we can possibly combat this. It often seems all consuming. We of course thought about our daily communication with God through prayer, study, and meditation. We quickly realized that as those things are great and needed, but they are not enough. There are gaps in between the times we are in prayer, study, and meditation.
We spoke about how it is a state of mind that we carry with us all day. Where we constantly walk in Gods love and grace. Where everything we see is filtered through the gospel. Where the lies and the manipulation from the enemy are shot down. It’s different than a worldly routine where we are on the defensive everyday. It’s us being on the offensive. It’s us walking around everyday totally focused on Christ and of not being of this world. Often we start our day or week feeling full of the Spirit and ready to take on the world, only to feel defeated soon after. So many things remove our focus from Christ and the gospel. So many things make us react. We are bombarded constantly. What we find ourselves in need of is a change of our perception of this world and our place and function as children of the One True God. I’m going to start exploring this in more detail and I will share what God lays on my heart with you.
