John 2:19 “Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”
Often times our perspective makes all the difference. When Jesus said these words the religious leaders laughed at him. From their perspective Jesus was telling them to tear down the actual temple in their city and he would rebuild it in three days. Of course Jesus had the power to tear it down the actual temple and rebuild it in an instant, but he was not speaking of a temple built of stone. He was speaking of Himself and His crucifixion. He was speaking of the future and how after He died He would rise three days later.
This account takes on a whole new meaning when you look at it from the perspective of Jesus. It is often that we find ourselves in positions where we could use a fresh perspective.
We have the ability to see situations from a different angle. All we need to do is ask God to help us see things as He sees them. God is just and omnipresent. If God is fair and everywhere at the same time, He sees everything perfectly. How awesome would it be to view situations perfectly? Good news! We can but only with God’s help.
We must pratice acting instead of reacting. Instead of reacting to a situation, do some research. Take the time to ask God what He sees. Humble yourself and ask for His leading and guidance. Ask Him to renew your mind and change your perspective to His. Read His Word and pray. Be patient and sensitive to what He reveals to you.
One of my favorite prayers to pray is basically God turn me into a reflection of Your Son: May my thoughts be Your thoughts, may my eyes see what You see, may my mouth say the words You would say, may my hands do the work You would do, and may my feet go where You would have me go.
All it takes is a change of perspective. May We always ask God to change our perspective to His.
