Romans 8:28 “28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.”
This verse can bring peace in the darkest of times, the saddest of times, and the craziest of times! This verse also points us to the giver of blessings. 25 little words that remind us who is really in control.
It’s humbling to think of how huge the universe is and how we must be so very tiny in the grand scheme of things. It would be easy to feel insignificant and frail.
Our gracious God chose to not only create us but to love us. He chose to love us and for us to love Him. He chose to be involved in our lives and for us to be involved in the big picture He is creating. He chose this even though He knew we would make many wrong choices along our way.
As I think on this verse I start to recount how many times I have failed to bring glory to God. In God’s grace He did not turn His face away from me but loved me through them all. More than that He continued to work through my life for His glory. He has chosen to use me despite my failures.
It turns out I can’t mess up God’s plan. He’s always actively working it all out for His glory. He has everything under control and somehow weaves my life and the lives of countless others into it perfectly.
This verse points to the One who holds everything together perfectly. Who is never surprised and who is always actively involved. We may fall short but He never does. He knows how everything ends and in His love He walks with us as we tackle life and all it brings. He’s pointing us to a life everlasting beyond our imaginations where we will find everything perfectly set in place. We can draw strength and peace from the truth of this verse.
The weight can be lifted from our shoulders that everything hinges on us. We are not alone in our journey, He is leading, opening and closing doors, and in control every step of our way. We sometimes just need to embrace this truth, stop worrying, and learn to enjoy the journey.
May we keep our eyes focused on the destination, for no matter the challenges we face to get there…where we are headed is glorious.
