Deuteronomy 2:7″For the LORD your God has blessed you in all that you have done; He has known your wanderings through this great wilderness These forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have not lacked a thing.”‘
I am continually amazed at how patient God’s leaders were in the Bible. When I read the accounts of Moses, Abraham, David, and many more, I am in awe of how faithful they were through the hardships they faced.
One thing I notice as I study is that there always was and always is a journey that takes place.
When I think of patience I think of Moses first. The Israelites complained and complained during their wilderness journey. The events in Moses’ life that led up to the Exodus prepared Him to be successful. While he was patiently and faithfully walking through each day of his life he was learning and going through a constant transformation that continued until his death.
David’s life was a very eventful life that took him on an amazing journey of development into a great king and man after God’s own heart. The journey was full of drama and he spent a lot of time patiently running for his life. His crazy journey produced an amazing king.
Joseph’s life is pure inspiration to all of us to patiently persevere. He endured so much and his journey led to a climax where God used him to play an important role in saving His people from a devastating famine.
It is very easy for me to be impatient. As I look at the lives of these heroes of our faith, I am encouraged to be patient with my life. To be faithful daily and to learn through suffering.
Our story is in the process of being written. My prayer for each of us is for the pages of our journey to contain accounts of steadfast faith, unshakeable dedication to our Lord, constant acts of love toward others, and an unmistakable daily reflection of Christ.
