Matthew 18:3 “And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:4 “Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:14 “But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.””
Mark 10:15 “Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
Luke 18:17 “Truly I tell you, if anyone does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child, he will never enter it.”
As a young man I think of David’s child-like faith. Children believe what you tell them. From that point on, they believe it. God intends our faith to be like that of a child no matter how old we become. God’s desire is that we embrace a child-like faith.
As we read scripture we learn many things about God. We learn that He loves us no matter what, and love us always. We learn that no one can pluck us out of God’s hand. We learn that God has a plan for our lives, that He wants to use us for His glory, that He will provide food, shelter, clothing, and that we should not worry.
We should live our lives like we know all of this to be true. If we really truly believed that God had everything in our lives under control then we would never worry. We would not spend one minute upset, we would pray to Him and remind ourselves that He’s not surprised by whatever has happened and that He has everything under control, and then we would move on with our day.
If we really believed He would take care of us, we would not spend one minute worrying about money or how we were going to pay for this or that. If we truly believed that God has a plan for our lives, we would be content letting Him lead the way and we would be content following.
If we truly believed we were forgiven for our sins we would not spend even a second feeling guilty of our past.
It is unbelievable how refreshing it is to be free! Life the way God intended it is joyful. That moment when we put our faith in God and accepted His Son as our Lord and Savior everything changed. The faith we started to have at that moment caused all the chains that bind us fall off. When Jesus gave His life, took the blame for all of our sin, and created a bridge from us to God; we became truly free.
The enemy wants God’s children to be preoccupied with anything and everything that takes their focus off God and places it back on self. He wants you to worry, be scared, be depressed, and stressed out. The enemy is happy when you are these things. Because when you are huddled up in your own little world you are ineffective in the lives of others.
However, when you have child-like faith, you are totally free to be used anyway in which God sees fit. You know God is taking care of everything in your life and you are free. Free to be of use in the lives of others.
So many things can weigh you down. Sometimes life gets hard. I know firsthand. We have survived a fire, a flood, a miscarriage, job loss, sickness, and my husband and I have both almost died. We survived; we came out on the other side of the storms of our life. God was in control every step of the way. Whether we were faithful or not He always was. He saw us through.
Don’t let the storms stop you, let God handle everything. Pray to develop a child-like faith, just like David when he was facing Goliath. Have faith that God can and God will. The Bible says with the faith as small as a mustard seed mountains can be moved. Take a minute to think… What is your mountain that needs to be moved today?
Enjoy your life, embracing every person God places in your path as a person put there on purpose. When you give God the reins and let Him handle everything, you have so much time to invest in the lives of others. Take advantage of it.
Amazing Father in Heaven, You created this wonderful world around me. In only six days you called everything to be. I am in awe of Your creation. Sometimes I find it hard to give everything in my life that is weighing me down over to you. In reality I know that you have my life under control and that whatever comes my way you will deal with perfectly. I know you are never surprised by the events of my life, but I often am. Help me to have faith in You and your plan. Help me to let go by giving all I worry about to You. Help me to instead focus on the people you place in my life. Help me to be an encouragement to them. Show me how to love every single one. May I not stand in the way of the growth of my faith.
Amen
