Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”We have all heard this scripture many times. Usually it is used as encouragement that God wants to give us an amazing future, and He does. To read these words is very comforting. This scripture has the ability to remove the fear we have of the future.
I challenge us today to look deeper into this scripture. God does have a perfect future in store for us. He’s always has had a perfect plan. This perfect plan is what makes us prosperous. It’s not money, possessions, or social status. Our prosperous future consists of us being successful in Gods perfect plan. After all, we were created for Him, to serve Him, and to worship Him. Our lives are not about us and our wealth but about Him and His.
Each day God has a perfect plan for our lives. He places people in our lives and weaves our lives together for a purpose. That purpose is to love them. By loving the people around us we are a light in their world. Our words and actions can lift the mood of a room, encourage the downcast, heal the broken, and bring joy beyond measure. Everyday we have the ability to reflect Jesus to all those around us. So, as we go about our lives this week may we all be challenged that we are not simply fulfilling our earthly job, but a much bigger task that extends past the walls of our office building.
My prayer today: My precious Father, please help me to have a different outlook on the world around me and the tasks I perform. May I remember you are the center of all I do. That Your will is that I first and foremost love. May I remember that any ladder that I climb is worth nothing unless I glorify you while I climb. May I remember your idea of being successful may be different than mine. While I tend to see success in collecting money You see success in collecting hearts dedicated to you. Thank you for your mercy and provisions you so lovingly provide each and every day. Thank you for the people you place me around each day. Help me to love them like you do. Amen.
